RANDONEE RACE | BEER | FESTIVITIES | CLINICS | BEACON RALLY | SNOWSHOEING | ICE CLIMBING
Vertfest, presented by Outdoor Research and supported by Clif Bar, Coast Mountain Culture Magazine, Alpental and Pro Guiding Service, is a multi-stop mountain festival dedicated to raising the level of backcountry stoke in the Northwest, improving backcountry skills and increasing avalanche awareness. From its humble beginnings 10 years ago as a small randonee race with 50 participants at the Alpental ski area, Vertfest has grown to what this year is a two-stop tour involving races, demos, clinics and festivities at both Alpental and Mt Bachelor. The entire weekend is a giant fundraiser for the Northwest Avalanche Center.
This day entails one of the most grueling Randonee Races in North America, taking place at the legendary Alpental ski area. The Monika Johnson Memorial Rally randonee race starts at the base area at 3100' and the rapid vertical climb to 5400' defines this race. Encompassing one of the most challenging mountains in the northern hemisphere. In 2016, we witnessed 130 hard cores and fun lovin' AT friends testing their mettle against Alpental's steep slopes for ultimate AT glory. This year will prove once again that this is the working man's Randonee race in the Americas, not something you'll want to miss watching!

Multiple Competition Classes:
Rookie Rally / Team Sprint is for those new to the sport and those who don’t want to go it alone. Grab a partner and stick together as you race from the base of Alpental to the top of the Sessel lift and back. Teams must finish the race together, so don’t get spread out on the course! Rookies don’t have backcountry gear? You can demo it at the Vendor Village!
Featuring demos and booths from the top brands in the industry! Vendor Village will be jammin' all day long, so if you want to check something out just stop by the NWAC info booth to get signed up. All demo gear must be returned at the end of the day.
Check out NWAC.US/VERTFEST for more detailed information and to register for clinics and races.
If you can't make it to Vertfest, but are interested in donating to NWAC please do so at nwac.us/support/donate/.
