SNOWBOARDING FOR A CAUSE:

ENVIRONMENTAL NONPROFIT TEAMS UP WITH THE SUMMIT

Snoqualmie Pass, Wash. February 14, 2007– For the fourth season in a row, the Snowrider Project and The Summit at Snoqualmie will harness the power of a generation to help raise awareness of something vital to human existence — clean water.

Washington’s only superpipe (a channel constructed in the snow which resembles a pipe cut longitudinally with walls exceeding 17 feet) will be the stage for competitors of all ages and ability levels to earn recognition and win prizes, while promoting the Snowrider Project’s ecological mission.

“After learning about the Snowrider Project I wanted to focus an entire event around their cause instead of having them just be another pop-tent at a contest,” said Krush Kulesza of The Summit. “Between the last Olympics and the X Games, Superpipe has really become a popular event for competitors and spectators.”

Since 1997, the Snowrider Project’s mission has been to bring a greater understanding to the masses of the hydrological cycle (the foundation for the intimate environmental connection between snow, land and surf). The Snowrider Project also fosters a sense of stewardship towards alpine and valley watersheds.

Recently, Snowrider has received a financial boost that will help take their vision nationwide. “Thanks to Pyramid’s [Breweries Inc.] generous contributions, we can syndicate the successful model that we’ve established here in the Northwest, specifically with our environmental programs at The Summit at Snoqualmie, all around the nation,” said Mike McCann of the Snowrider Project.

The Summit at Snoqualmie is a proud partner with the USFS offering equal opportunity recreation.
